Clarifying Axe Inventory

So I ran into Wes Callihan at loco grinz downtown and we were speaking briefly about my guitar inventory, and while i was impressed with his memory on this front; I also felt that I needed to properly introduce the family. These are my electrics. Not as many as I use to have, but i have since moved from quantity to quality. I will introduce the rest of the family(acoustics) later.

This is my custom MJ Mirage my wife bought me when i was 24. It was built with an ebony neck with pearl inlay roman numeral XII on the 12th fret. I had all the pearl dots removed on the rest of the neck to get that clean smooth look to it. It has a seymour duncan humbucker and 2 seymour single coils. The paint as you can see is color-shifting paint. It goes from blue to red to purple and sometimes aqua green depending on the lighting im under. I typically use it for softer music, because the clean sound this guitar gets is unmatchable. Its sustain and overall tone is majestic.

This is my PRS 20th Anniversary 24 fret limited edition that was in production for 1 year. It has the trail of birds flying up the neck which is different from their traditional layout. This is my most played guitar, because it is the most versatile. I can bust out some heavy metal lick, soft rock, or even worship tunes with this bad boy. Everything that comes out of this guitar sounds great. It is easy to play, and incredibly comfortable to solo on. I got him when i was in colorado about 5 years ago, i was 22 i think. My wife and I went into Spotlight music, and were looking at the expensive price tag, and werent too hot on that. But after talking to the store owner and finding out we lived in the same town as his daughter and knew a few mutual people, she got excited. I told her i bought a an emerald prs at her store 2 years prior and i loved their service even though it was far from home. She then said that the students were gone for the summer and she didnt think she would push anymore out the door. So she pretty much gave me the guitar at cost. It was at that point my wife became the apple of my eye.

This is my PRS CE 22. It was the first "real" guitar i ever had. I guess by that i mean first guitar that out performed all the entry level guitars i have ever had, by leaps and bounds. This emerald guitar, is not only easy to play, but is a powerhouse. Its dragon II pickups are so hot, they will melt your face. I plug this bad boy in when im ready to bring the thunder. I dont use it so much for softer music or even alternative, its pretty much a hard rock, angry guitar. I bought this one in colorado as well im pretty sure when i was 20. I couldnt even believe i bought it.

Last, my newest addition is the Schecter Omen. Unlike all my other guitars this one, is very cheap, price-wise. I only paid 150 for it, i think they retail at 350 or so. Schecter is one of those brands along with Ibanez that price is not as important on some levels. As far as its playability and its structural quality its well worth it. The few areas it doesnt match up to the others is, versatility, overal sound quality, and its ability to stay in tune for months like a prs can. But besides that it plays well, it offers a sound none of my other guitars have. Which is a deep low, bassy, gravely clean sound. And when you hit the distortion it turns really muddy, its a really cool sounding guitar.

That is my electric collection for now. Hopefully someday i will obtain my dream of a PRS private stock.
