Just Try And Tell Me....

that other bands write hotter riffs than metallica. This new album is not that great in my mind, i think the middle of their career when they were focused on rocknroll rather than metal was glorious. But they still have moments of pure glory. This song is pretty rad.

Honestly I think Ulrich's drumming has gotten way boring as of late...the song would have been radder if my brother did the drums.

I'm telling.

Isaiah, lars drums are always just solid. He has never been a showman. But here is the thing. The fact that he is so simple, when everyone else would want to be complex is what makes him great. He is amazing in my mind as a drummer for just pounding the 2 and 4 so slow and so steady with some fills in between makes metallica what it is. Its a guitar driven and vocal driven band, the drums need to just hold the beat. But i dont disagree that he isnt skilled as far as stickmanship goes, hes just a simple guy making hard rock work. Hard rock isnt about the drums.

I agree and appreciate Lars every time. Btw, my comment looks pretty random unless you know that "telling" is actually a link to Gunn's blog.

I think Lars is good, but he's just way boring, esp. on this song. There's a difference between simple and boring...and lately he's been pretty boring, because I like most of his earlier work.
